Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11: Vishvarup, the Phenomenal Cosmic Form

<p>His illusion dispelled thanks to the secret spiritual knowledge imparted by Krishna; Arjuna desired to see the Lord’s cosmic form. Krishna agreed and granted him the divine vision to see his incredible form.</p> <p>With the splendour of 1000 Suns blazing together, the supreme Lord of Yog, in that wondrous form, had innumerable faces and eyes, was decorated with many ornaments and garlands, and wielded divine weapons. Seeing the entire universe in His physique, the awestruck Arjuna bowed before that breathtaking form with folded hands.</p> <p>“O Lord, I see Brahma, Shiva, all Gods and beings in your infinite structure, that spreads everywhere without beginning or end, wearing a crown, holding a disc and club, and lustrous like a brilliant fire. I see you as the ultimate truth, imperishable and with unlimited power. With Sun and Moon as your eyes, and fire as your mouth, Gods take shelter in you, sages and saints sing your praise in prayers, while the celestials look at you in wonder. With many mouths, arms, legs, and frightening teeth, your magnificence permeates the space while the worlds tremble at your sight, along with me.</p> <p>I have no courage or peace seeing your towering form, blazing eyes, wide-open mouths, and fire-like terrible teeth! I also see my enemies and warriors rushing into Your fearful mouths to be devoured by you. Have mercy and tell me, Who You Are?”</p> <p>“I am the all-powerful Time that has come to destroy the worlds,” declared the supreme Lord. “Even without your efforts, your mighty enemies will all be destroyed. I have already slain the likes of Bheeshma, Drona, et al., so, just get up and fight; victory is yours.”</p> <p>Trembling with fear at what he saw and heard, Arjuna praised the colossal   Krishna as primordial God, omniscient and all-pervading, whom the evil dreaded, the universe rejoiced. Calling him variously as God of Gods, Father of the universe, mighty, valorous, and incomparable, an overwhelmed Arjuna saluted Him repeatedly and sought Krishna’s pardon for his disrespe
