Beyond the Podium: Joy Fox (D) Candidate for Congress

<p>Joy Fox, who is seeking the Democratic nomination in Rhode Island’s&nbsp;<a href="https://turnto10.com/politics/kyc/rhode-island-2nd-congressional-district" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">2nd Congressional District,</a>&nbsp;said she stands out from her opponents because of her roots.</p><p>“I grew up here, I live here now, I worked in government here, and I run a small business here,” Fox said in a recent taping of “<a href="https://turnto10.com/news/beyond-the-podium" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Beyond the Podium</a>.”</p><p>Fox cited the rising cost of prescription drugs, gasoline and groceries as the most important issue facing Rhode Island.</p><p>“If we want to solve these problems, we need to change who we send to Washington. I think that we need someone who has to work for a living, not someone who grew up with a trust fund,” Fox said.</p><p>The candidate explained why she’s most qualified to tackle those issues.</p><p>“My deep roots in this district give me a deep understanding of the challenges we face. I also have the experience of working for Congressman Jim Langevin and Gov. Gina Raimondo. This gives me a unique perspective to be able to hit the ground running on day one for you and your family,” Fox said.</p><p>Is there an issue that she's changed her thinking about?</p><p>“Given the recent actions of the Supreme Court, especially around Roe v. Wade, I think we do need to examine term limits for justices as well as the size of the court,” Fox said.</p><p>Fox named former first lady Rosalynn Carter, the wife of President Jimmy Carter, as a political hero.</p><p>“I have had the tremendous opportunity to get to know her and her work and she is a tremendous trailblazer when it comes to raising awareness about mental health issues, as well as for advocating for family caregivers,” Fox said.</p><p>Fox also shared the best advice she’s ever received.</p><p>“When faced when a challenging problem or something that we need to solve, it’s always good to have a diverse set of
