<p>Today we’re talking about morning routines. I’m getting into what I think is important for a good routine and some myths that circulate about what it takes to have a morning routine. I don’t think the cookie-cutter morning routine works for everyone. I have a young daughter and I’ve had to adjust my morning routine during various stages of her life, change in bedtimes etc. I’m sure parents out there will know the struggle. But it’s essential to find what works best for you and is sustainable.</p> <p>The first myth I want to bust is that it has to happen first thing in the morning. I don’t believe that’s true. The importance of a morning routine is having a routine at all. For most of us, it makes us feel better and more prepared to do them in the morning. For mothers of young kids that are getting up at night, doing feedings, and missing out on sleep it may not make sense for you to pop out of bed and get right to your morning routine. Building habits is important but not to your detriment.</p> <p>The next myth we’re getting into is that you have to do certain things. We’ve been told all these things that are so necessary for a morning routine and it’s just not true. You don’t have to journal if that’s not your priority. It has to be things that are going to help your business along and not just check off a thing you heard would help your business.</p> <p>I do believe that morning routines start the night before. It’s much better and more effective when I start my morning routine the night ahead. Whatever you can do to prep for your morning routine is so helpful. Maybe it’s filling up your water bottle, setting out your workout clothes, or gathering your books or planner. For me, sometimes I’ll get caught up tidying or organizing in the morning. So I try to do all of that the night before so I’m not distracted. My morning routine starts when my husband takes my daughter to school.
