<p>The Bauchi State House of Assembly has adopted a motion urging the State Government to promptly renovate and reboard Government Day Secondary School, Itas, located in Itas/Gadau Local Government.</p>, <p>The motion was presented by Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Maiyadi, the representative of Itas/Gadau Constituency, during the House plenary on Tuesday.</p>, <p>In his argument, Hon. Yusuf Maiyadi disclosed that the school was established during the tenure of the late Governor Abubakar Tatari Ali to function as a boarding school for Itas District and nearby communities. He emphasized that the institution was initially well-equipped with learning facilities and experienced teaching staff, becoming a hub of education and producing notable individuals who have contributed positively to various sectors.</p>, <p>However, Hon. Yusuf Maiyadi expressed concern that due to neglect, the school’s infrastructure has deteriorated, some structures are obsolete, and roofing has been blown off. He pointed out that some classrooms have collapsed, leading to the tragic death of a student when a roof fell on him recently.</p>, <p>The parliamentarian noted that the school lost its prestige when it was converted to a day school in 2020, causing several problems due to its significance as the only boarding secondary school in the district.</p>, <p>Consequently, he urged the House to request the State Government to restore the school’s boarding status, rehabilitate dilapidated structures, construct new classrooms and hostels, install perimeter fencing, and provide adequate learning materials and teachers.</p>, <p>Hon.
