<p><em>Banned Books Week</em> is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. <em>Banned Books Week </em>was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to <em>books</em> in schools, bookstores and libraries.  Learn why parents objected to such diverse classics as <em>I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings</em> and <em>Ender's Game</em> and which book is banned in the most countries.  Will Shel Silverstein turn your kids into cannibals?
