Bandits abduct policeman, two others in Benue

<p>The Chairman, Gwer West Local Government Area, Andrew Ayande, who confirmed the incident, explained that the area was notorious for criminality.</p>, <p>Catherine Anene, the State Police Public Relations Officer, when contacted, explained that she was yet to receive the report.</p>, <p>He said that they allegedly confessed to being members of Eiye confraternity, terrorising Abattoirs in Agege area.</p>, <p>The image maker said that the suspects confessed further that the gun was purchased at Mushin for the purpose of avenging the death of one of their members, who was killed by Aiye members in Abattoir, Agege.</p>, <p>The abductors contacted the relatives of the victims and demanded N1.7m ransom.</p>, <p>The chairman stated that the abductors were demanding N200,000 from the family of the policeman, N1m from the female victim and they also demanded N500,000 from the other victim.</p>, <p>He added that those who want to practice any kind of violence should either relocate from Lagos or risk the wrath of the command.</p>, <p>He warned that the police would not tolerate any form of cult activities in the state.</p>, <p>He explained that a policeman and two others were kidnapped around 4 pm at Ahume, Naka/Makurdi Road, stressing that the vehicle the victims were in had been taken to Naka Police Station.</p>, <p>Hundeyin said that the suspects, (names withheld), were arrested before they would execute their plans of killing some members of their rival group, Aiye Confraternity.</p>, <p>According to him, “This incident happened on Tuesday; we lost one prominent person around the place on Monday and they took the corpse home on Tuesday.
