August 9 - "War in Weather": THE Bomb Drop

On July 25, 1945 General Thomas Handy issued an order to General Carl Spaatz, commander of US Army Strategic Air Forces in Guam, to 'deliver’ the first 'special bomb’ as soon after August 3 as weather permitted visual targeting. This was the beginning of something most could not even comprehend yet. "IT" happened this day in weather history.
