When I was young, my father and I would pack up our 8" telescope into his car and drive up a mountainside as the Sun was setting.&#160;<br/><br/>Sitting in the back seat of the car, alongside the telescope, sat a plastic cooler full of dry ice&#8202;&#8212;&#8202;frozen carbon dioxide&#8202;&#8212;&#8202;to chill the &#8220;cold camera&#8221; we used to photograph objects in the sky.
