It is a day dedicated to the funny (and sometimes annoying) electric charge phenomenon and learning why and how it happens.  Greek philosopher, Thales of Miletus, was the first to mention static electricity in his accounts. While cleaning his amber he found that smaller dust particles would start sticking to it when he rubbed it.  Around 2,000 years later American scientist Benjamin Franklin associated static electricity with storms. While walking around the house, at work, or shopping, holding a key or a metal pen in your hand will help discharge the build-up of static electricity painlessly.</p>
