Army apprehend 2 suspected gun manufacturers in Plateau, recover weapons

<p>Two suspected gun manufacturers in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, have been arrested by troops of Operation Safe Haven, OPSH, a military taskforce maintaining peace in the state.</p>, <p>OPSH Media Officer, Capt. James Oya, told journalists in Jos on Saturday that troops of the taskforce uncovered the suspects’ gun factory, where newly-manufactured weapons were recovered.</p>, <p>He said the suspects, Micheal Dung (33) and Yusuf Pam (43) were arrested and their weapons manufacturing factory dismantled.</p>, <p>“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects sell guns to customers in different parts of the country.</p>, <p>“Troops recovered six AK-47 rifles, three skeleton AK-47 rifles, one locally-made pistol, 11 rifle bodies, seven bridge block, and four magazines.</p>, <p>“210 springs, seven rifle butts, eight riffle muzzles, nine piston assembly, five cartridge housings, one drilling machine and a hand filing machine were also recovered from them.</p>, <p>“The suspects will be charged to court immediately after investigations,’’ Oya said.</p>, <p>The prime suspect, Dung, told newsmen that he had been in the illegal business for six years.</p>, <p>According to him, he learned the skill from his deceased boss, and his customers were majorly from Mangu in Plateau.</p>, <p>Dung added that he sold arms at between N80,000 and N200,000, depending on the category.</p>
