Are You A Useless ? Withered Broken Off Branch?? (John 15:6)

Glory be to God! That's right, trees! I want to talk about branches and trimming and pruning by having a quick study in John chapter 15, verses 1-10. Because in verse 6, the Lord Jesus gives a dire warning. Let's read it: "If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken off] branch, and withers and dies; and they gather such branches and throw them into the fire, and they are burned." See? See why we must talk about trees, branches, pruning, and fire in today's exhortation! He declares at the top of the chapter: "I am the true Vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that continues to bear fruit, He [repeatedly] prunes, so that it will bear more fruit [even richer and finer fruit]." Amen! Therefore, this chapter had me thinking and pondering this word PRUNING, and why the Lord used such an illustration to let His disciples (including us modern-day disciples) know that, unless a branch remains vitally connected to that vine, it will wither and die - useful only for kindling. That dead, useless, deteriorated branch has managed to get itself in such a state that it breaks off from the vine! Thus, like the other broken off withered, useless, branches, it will be thrown into the fire! 😬 So make sure you tune in, because the Holy Spirit's sanctifying work in the believer's life is the PRUNING we all need to mature and grow spiritually in Christ. It is the cutting away of those spiritual diseases and sins we picked up while in the "world," when we enemies of God and under the influence and sway of the devil! It is to the glory of the Father that we are pruned and, therefore, produce more fruit, even greater and finer fruit, proving ourselves to be Jesus' true disciples!
