Antisemitism: Jewish organisations reject Kanye West’s public apology

<p>Recall that Kanye West, had in 2022, in a post deleted by Twitter, shared a screenshot of a text exchange between himself and Diddy, in which allegedly appeared to show West claiming that Combs was controlled by Jewish people.</p>, <p>He wrote: “I’m a bit sleepy tonight, but when I wake up, I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” (sic)</p>, <p>Legendary Beninese singer-songwriter, Angélique Kidjo, has been announced as a co-recipient of the 2023 Polar Music Prize.</p>, <p>But a few Jewish organisations say it’s inadequate, especially after the harm he caused.</p>, <p>“Soon I will be joining my courageous youths to take our peaceful rally to the next level”.</p>, <p>AJC rep Richard Hirschhaut said, “It is a little odd that all it might take for Kanye to renounce his vile antisemitism is to watch an 11-year-old Jonah Hill movie. Whether or not Kanye is sincere, only he knows.”</p>, <p>The organisations insisted that the rapper would have to do more if he wanted to apologise for his anti-Semitic attacks.</p>, <p>Angélique Kidjo is now the most-awarded female artist in Africa, with over 150 laurels, including five Grammys.</p>, <p>The first African to win the award was Miriam Makeba of South Africa in 2002, followed by Senegalese singer, Youssou N’Dour in 2013.</p>, <p>After which, the ADL said his comments were linked to 30 antisemitic incidents in the U.S.</p>, <p>Kidjo becomes only the third African to win the prize, which is awarded annually to individuals, groups and institutions in recognition of exceptional musical achievements.</p>, <p>A check on their pages shows that the gospel musicians, who had once worked together, had cut ties.
