In this episode, we are exploring Anthony Burgess’s interest in film, both as a consumer and a screenwriter. We follow Burgess’s life from his early years as a cinema-goer in Manchester through to his first trips to Hollywood, where he wrote screenplays on subjects as varied as Mary Queen of Scots, the end of the Earth, William Shakespeare and the wizard Merlin.
