Animal Welfare Says Growing Number of People Forced To Surrender Dogs Due To Accommodation Policies

Clare Animal Welfare is asking people interested in fostering dogs to put themselves forward due to the long waiting lists for dogs to be re-homed. The dog intake of the charity has surged since the end of lockdown with 156 going into its care last year compared to 110 the previous year. Already this year, 77 dogs have been admitted and the charity has noted that it is currently at capacity due the limited number of fosterers it has at its disposal. Director and Treasurer of Clare Animal Welfare, Stiofan Mac Gabhann, says people who are mostly at home and have a secure garden are preferable as fosterers.
