Actual Astronomy - Objects to Observe in December

Also Mars will be occulted by the Moon for most of NA and Europe.</p> <p>- Dec 14 - Geminid Meteor shower Peak - Might be too Moony.</p> <p>- Dec 16 - Last Quarter moon.</p> <p>- Dec 21 - Mercury at Greatest Eastern Elongation 20-degrees from the Sun.</p> <p>- Dec 21 - Winter Solstice.</p> <p>- Dec 22 - Ursid Meteors Peak: Debris from periodic comet 8P/Tuttle.</p> <p>- Dec 23 - New Moon</p> <p>- Dec 24 - Venus & Mercury<span class= "Apple-converted-space"> </span> 3 & 4° North of Moon<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p> <p>- Dec 26 - Saturn 4° N of Moon</p> <p>- Dec 29 - Mercury and Venus at closest - 1.4° separation</p> <p>- Dec 30 - Double Shadow transit on Jupiter. But not for us… Poo. Need to be up early and maybe in Japan.</p> <p>- Bright comet? C2022-E3 ZTF, mag 7 by end of Dec. Mag 5 by early January?
