Welcome to the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast. We are in Acts 9:1-9. The theme of this section is the persecution of believers, whether as an individual, such as Stephen, or as the church as a whole. This persecution was being carried out by a religious zealot, Saul, a Pharisee of the Jewish religion. Saul became afraid because at this point, a bright light shined on them and he was blinded. He asked, ‘Who are you lord, sir?” And when our Lord appeared to Saul, personally, speaking in the Hebrew language, He identifies Himself by name, saying, ‘I Am Jesus, whom you are persecuting!’ Jesus takes persecution against His church very personally. From this point on, Saul is given time to consider who this Jesus is. This is one of the 17x appearances of Jesus after His resurrection.
