Acts 5:1-16 Prog 22

In Acts chapter 5, we see disciplinary action being exercised. Two members lied to Peter and the Holy Spirit. It is evident that Satan had a major hand in this since he is a liar and the father of lies. This was apparently a matter concerning a real estate sale, which was fine, but their donation was presented as the full price and value when it was not. Also, we hear Peter declare that it was the Holy Spirit as God who was lied to. The result of this discipline of God in this instance fostered deep respect and fear among all the people, so much so, some people did not join with them. However, more believers were still being added to the Lord. Luke writes - these here were added to the LORD, rather than to the church.
