After the Word of the Lord made such an inroad to the people of Ephesus, Paul decided to go to Jerusalem and from there to Rome as well. So, sending two of his helpers to Macedonia, Timothy and Erastus, he stayed in Asia. During this time, a certain silversmith had a lucrative trade making idols of a certain mythical female named Artemis, or Diana. Because of Paul’s preaching the gospel of the true and living God, those who heard the Gospel of God and believed turned to God and away from their idols to wait for Jesus. This caused quite an impact on the idol making business as their profits began declining. Well this caused the tradesmen to begin a mindless uproar with shouting for the space of two hours.
