Acts 17:16-23 - Prog 53

Description
Now that Paul made it safe from Berea, he is found in Athens alone for awhile. He spent his time observing the city seeing that it was filled with idols and objects of worship. Luke writes that Paul made his way once again to their synagogue to reason with some devout persons there. He then made his way to the market place speaking to anyone he found. As it turns out, some of the philosophers of the Epicureans (those whose goal in life was to live in pleasure) and the Stoics (who practice harsh deprivations) wanted to know what this new teaching of Jesus and the resurrection meant. So, they brought Paul to Mars hill, which is also the Areopagus, to hear what Paul had to say.
