Dr. Mitchell continues with Peter’s preaching to the household of Cornelius, a roman soldier. Peter had not yet finished his declaration of Jesus Christ, when in an instant, the Holy Spirit fell upon those hearing of the forgiveness of sins. Peter and the 6 men with him were astounded at this. Now, back in Jerusalem, Peter is called on the carpet, so to speak, as Dr. Mitchell says. The Jewish believers wanted an accounting of why he went into the home of a gentile. So, Peter reiterates from the beginning what God showed him and told him. Did you see how Peter, in Acts 11:17, says he had received the Holy Spirit when he believed in the Lord Jesus Christ at the beginning that is in Acts 2?
