<p>There are Five C's in the lesson of crucial conversations.</p> <p>1. <strong>CREATE</strong> a safe Space/Environment<br /> This happens long before a conversation<br /> How you treat your spouse will determine of he/she feels safe when talking to you<br /> <br /> 2. <strong>CONCENTRATE</strong> on the outcome<br /> What is the purpose for the conversation?<br /> What do you want to accomplish by having the conversation?<br /> What do you want the relationship to look like after the conversation takes place?<br /> <br /> 3. <strong>CRUISE</strong> into the conversation<br /> Enter the conversation lightly<br /> Begin with where you agree<br /> Begin with what they mean to you<br /> Refrain from using certain statements (you always, you never, you need to....)<br /> <br /> 4. <strong>CHECK</strong> your emotions<br /> Be mindful of the thoughts you allow to enter into your head<br /> Don’t let your emotions take control<br /> Master the stories you tell yourself<br /> Don’t take what’s said personal<br /> <br /> 5. <strong>CONVERSATE</strong> <br /> Talk<br /> Plan when you will talk about difficult things<br /> Do not ignore or avoid having difficult cover stations<br /> Set aside time (don’t be rushed, be present)<br /> Plan to talk when your rested </p>
