60 Seconds: Sometimes We Need a Little Human to Point the Way.

<p>Hello, Perth, Australia!</p><p>Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.</p><p>Her name was Charlie, 7 years old and on vacation with us on the North Carolina coast. Skipping up the sandy path leading to the rented beach house where I slumped on the porch with my then boyfriend, Charlie stopped dead in her tracks, put hands on hips, screwed up her face and said, “<i>Hey! is *that* your *dad*?</i>” As if she couldn’t believe her eyes!</p><p>Right then I knew this guy was too darn small for me - too old in spirit - too controlling. We were like chalk and cheese.</p><p>Life is so darn short. “<i>Anything or anyone that does not bring you alive, </i>says (the poet) David Whyte, <i>is too small for you</i>.” [<a href="https://onbeing.org/poetry/sweet-darkness/">Sweet Darkness</a> by David Whyte  </p><p> It  took a 7 year old - who could see clearly - to point the way so I could free myself and walk into a wide open frontier.</p><p><strong>Question:</strong> What might be too small for you?  </p><p><i>This is the place to thrive together.
