<p>Hello to you listening in <a href="https://www.charlestoncvb.com/" target="_blank">Charleston, South Carolina</a>!</p><p>Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.</p><p>In her deeply inventive book, <a href="https://sharonblackie.net/if-women-rose-rooted/" target="_blank">If Women Rose Rooted</a>, Sharon Blackie has this to say about women and their stories:    </p><p>   "<i>... to change the world, we women first have to change ourselves - and then we need to change the stories we tell about who we are...</i></p><p><i>We have our own guiding stories, and they are deeply rooted in the heart of our own native landscapes. We draw them out of the wells and the waters; beachcombing, we lift them out of the sand. We dive for them to the bottom of deep lakes, we disinter them from the bogs, we follow their tracks through the shadowy glades of the enchanted forest....</i></p><p><i>If women remember that once upon a time we sang with the tongues of seals and flew with the wings of swans, that we forged our own paths through the dark forest while creating a community of its many inhabitants, then we will rise up rooted, like trees.
