60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Tips for Producing a Good Idea

When I’m stuck I start with what I know: imagination and experience; plus, a deep awareness of who I am, not just what I offer. The ‘who you are’ shapes what you have to offer. I also rely on this 5-step idea producing technique I borrowed from James Webb Young:</p><p>1. Gather all the raw materials for your immediate problem from your storehouse of lived experience</p><p>2. Work all the materials over in your mind</p><p>3. Invite your imagination, dreams and subconscious mind to begin synthesizing what you gathered and worked over</p><p>4. When the *good* idea does appear embrace it with a resounding “Ah Ha! - I’ve got it!”</p><p>5.
