60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: Like Storytelling Healing Is Connection

<p>Hello to you listening in <a href="https://www.visitwebster.net/" target="_blank">Webster Parish, Louisiana</a>!</p><p>Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday with your host, Diane Wyzga.</p><p>I’m not a therapist but storytelling is therapeutic. What do I mean? We connect to a story because something beckons us, speaks to a feeling, an emotion, an experience of ours. We recognize it. We feel it resonating in our bones. We can turn to the story and say, “<i>What! You, too? I thought I was the only one</i>!” [C.S. Lewis]</p><p>Things around us need healing. Healing is connection. What if someone asked us how do we feel disconnected? What if, instead of bemoaning our current state of affairs we say, “<i>Hey! This is just like having a fever and when we have a fever that’s the body saying, ‘I could use a little help here!</i>’”  What if our pain is like a societal fever? And what if we could revisit our stories to figure out how we lessened our pain in the past? And then do it again.  </p><p><strong>Question</strong>: How might we proceed to engage, to connect, to share the stories that will help lessen the fever and restore us to health?
