60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What Dogs Know About Being a Leader

<p>Hello to you Lesley Osborn listening in <a href="https://www.ocalamarion.com/" target="_blank">Ocala, Marion County, Florida</a>! </p><p>Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.</p><p>Once upon a time, long before man walked the Earth, the Dog Nation decided to elect a leader. Under the full moon of a summer eve they gathered in a clearing in the woods. One by one each dog stood up and told the others why he (or she) should be elected leader.</p><p>Greyhound said she could run the fastest. The Dog Nation agreed Greyhound was a very fast runner!</p><p>Bulldog said he had the fiercest growl. The Dog Nation agreed that Bulldog was a fierce growler!</p><p>Hound Dog said he could sing the best. All the dogs were good singers but they agreed it wasn’t a party unless Hound Dog was singing!</p><p>All night long the Dog Nation howled and barked and woofed about what to do; but they could not agree on who to elect as leader.  </p><p>Finally, little Chihuahua stood up on a log and said, “<i>I have an idea. We should elect as our leader the dog that doesn’t smell bad under its tail</i>.” All the dogs agreed that this was quite fair.</p><p>The Dog Nation is still without their leader; but, if you watch dogs meet up they circle and sniff each other. Why? They’re looking for the leader that doesn't smell bad under its tail.</p><p><strong>Story Prompt</strong>: What have you learned from leaders who let you down? Smelled bad under their tail? How did that make you the leader you are today? Write that story!</p><p><strong>Practical Tip</strong>: The magic of stories is also in the sharing.
