60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: Growing a Woman’s Confidence, Voice and Message

<p>Hello to you listening in <a href="https://www.durango.org/" target="_blank">Durango, Colorado</a>!</p><p>Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.</p><p>Is it just me or is the media still asking if it’s okay to be a woman and express confidence? What’s up with that nonsense?</p><p>Here me when I say this: Yes, it's okay. It's better than okay. It's required! Yet, we wait for permission.</p><p>I waited my turn, too. As an incest survivor I heard, “<i>Be quiet. No one will believe you. You are a liar.</i>”</p><p>So I was quiet until I learned that didn't work either. I looked for ways to grow my confidence: art therapy; teachers, friends and colleagues who heard me; competing in <a href="https://www.law.ox.ac.uk/current-students/mooting-oxford/mooting-what-it-and-why-take-part" target="_blank">Moot Court</a> during law school and winning top prize; trying on one voice and then another until I found the heart of my voice which led me to the heart of my message.  </p><p>Did it happen over night? Not a chance! Was it easy? No way! But here's the thing: no matter when and how you begin growing your confidence, it’s a start. A start is all you need.</p><p><strong>Question</strong>: Let’s do this together! Let’s show them what a woman’s confidence sounds like!
