Their stories have been regularly recounted across nearly 150 years of news reports and histories of Shreveport. The city’s Pierre Avenue is named in honor of one of them, Father Jean Pierre, the first pastor of Holy Trinity. And now their story is becoming more widely known in the Catholic Church in the U.S. and beyond with the formal opening of their sainthood case" (Catholic Herald).

This week in Louisiana history.
