5: I Am Because We Are

<div>One of the things that drew us to our guest, Shola Richards, is his level of vulnerability in his speaking and writing. He talks openly about his mental health challenges, his suicidal thoughts, his feelings of inadequacy at times, essentially, the deeper matters of the heart. That’s especially important to us as men. In our conversation with Shola, he speaks of “ubuntu”, the Southern African word and concept of “humanness” - a quality that includes the essential human virtues of compassion and humanity and understanding, that “I am only because you are”.<strong> </strong>Ubuntu changes the way we work, live and lead. Shola believes in connecting to our shared humanity.  We believe in it, too.</div>
