452 EXTRA We Must Be Optimistic About The Future

<p>not sure why we got so pessimistic about the future - things ARE getting better - and we need to make it so.</p> <p>not sure why we got so pessimistic about the future - things ARE getting better - and we need to make it so. &nbsp;There was technology there was a culture there was optimism there was so much in that series the drone people I mean it drove people into technology it was a future vision that was so compelling. A look at that and said I want to build that kind of future so they went into technology they went into sociology they went into politics and they said to themselves that's kind of the that's the kind of future that I want to build. &nbsp;That's what's missing from these visions of the future and I think we were under some kind of spell at the moment the people are loving these dystopian visions of the future I don't know what it is I don't know why everyone is so full of negativity I mean I'm the optimistic futurists I think things are going to get better if things are gonna get better I mean if you look at Steven Pinker's work there's plenty of evidence tons and tons and tons of evidence that the future is going to be better we it's not and it's not just technology it's not just medicine. &nbsp;And the only way we can do this is if we do the exact same thing that happened as a spawn of the original series see everyone watch that in thought to themselves I want to build that optimistic future so my question is of people today who are watching these things and they see these dystopian dismal futures is that because they want that kind of the dystopian dismal futures to come into play you got to understand that we are creating. Our own futures I mean it sounds like an obvious statement but it's not just something that's going to happen on its own we shape it. &nbsp;We don't need to envision this extended strife between individuals we can go beyond that we have to think about it in that way is that we're going to get past this current set of dystopia they were in and go into a possibly not a u
