400 Years of Ignorance and Inequality

Description

I posted this episode yesterday and took it down because I was uncomfortable with the tone. It is impossible for a white person with my background to be an expert on the overtly negative effects of racism; I have not had to live it. I was uncomfortable with allowing myself to have a one hour public monologue on the subject. Mine is simply not the voice that needs to be heard right now.

However, that does not mean I am off the hook in the discussion or that white people should be silent when they see racism or recognize racism within themselves. Obviously, silence from whites is a huge part of the problem. I am placing it back up now as a placeholder. Clearly this issue was not at the forefront of my consciousness when I started this podcast. It was a very white / western thing for it not to have been at the forefront of my consciousness. I intend to educate myself on the nature of systemic racism going forward. Hopefully I can look back in a couple of years and feel that I have moved the needle within myself and my role in being a part of the solution to systemic racial violence and ignorance.

Yesterday I posted some donation links. Along with those I am going to post links to films and books I have watched or will be watching and reading in the future. I deeply appreciate anyone who is listening to this podcast.

Thank You.

DONATE

NAACP Legal Defence Fund:

https://naacplegaldefensefund.org/campaigns/donate-naacp-ldf/

Black Lives Matter:

https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ms_blm_homepage_2019

Bail Funds:

https://www.communityjusticeexchange.org/nbfn-directory</a
