<div>Today is the 40th anniversary of the start of the liberation struggle that led to the independence of South Sudan and its separation from Sudan.<br> <br> Commonly known as May 16th, the day marks the formation of SPLA/SPLM in 1983, when the first bullets were fired in Jonglei State, starting the fight for liberation.<br> <br> The Army spokesperson Major General Lul Ruai Koang says that this year no official celebrations are planned with individuals and non-official group celebrations across the country. He spoke about the history and the background of this great day. </div>
