Description
Born in 1478, Thomas More was a lawyer, scholar and one of England’s most revered politicians of his time. Despite being King Henry VIII’s supreme diplomat and counsellor, he did not compromise his own moral values in order to please the king. This was clearly shown when he opposed the king's annulment to Catherine of Aragon. He was later convicted of treason, and eventually beheaded. St Thomas More is the patron saint of lawyers, civil servants and apparently difficult marriages.
