2021.09.19 - Glory In Humility, Glory In Humiliation, & Glory In God

Pt. I - Glory in Humility Explanation: This brother is to glory in his high position. What does James mean here? Is he talking about people with very little wealth materially and financially? Is he talking about people who are humble in spirit? I believe James is referring here to a person who is broken, poor, and downcast in spirit. He was preaching the Gospel, (A LIFE ALTERING, SOUL WINNING, GOD GLORIFYING, CHRIST EXALTING, SIN ERADICATING MESSAGE) to a people poor in spirit. GOD IF I DIE LIKE THIS, I’LL SINK LOWER THAN THE GRAVE, WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED!! Then at that moment God in Christ Jesus, through His bloody sacrifice on the cross takes your sins and casts them as far as the east is from the west and exalts you from death to eternal life into His glorious kingdom. Application: You are not dealing with your circumstances accidentally, you are not battling depression accidentally, you are not suffering what you are suffering accidentally, you are not dealing with the loss of loved ones, alienation from friends and family because of your faith, you are not facing the threats of cancer, our country is not faltering and falling apart accidentally, and we are not dealing with a distraught past, a desperate present, and uncertain future accidentally. Pt. II - Glory in Humiliation Explanation: Basically, what James wants us to see here is that there is a specific reason the rich man is to glory in his humiliation. What is this humiliation? The issue that James saw, and we see much in our own day is that the difference is where each of these two men place their trust. The brother, humble in spirit, sets his hope on his lofty exaltation into God’s glorious kingdom but this man sets his hope on his wealth. He is putting his trust in his position of authority perhaps, his breezy and easy circumstances maybe, and most certainly his material wealth.
