2021.05.23 - Welcome Holy Spirit

Text: Acts 2:1-4 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Opening Statement: Today we celebrate Pentecost, which is celebrate on the 50th day after Easter which was when the Holy Spirit came down upon the disciples. Today we are going to look at what the Holy Spirit has come to do in your life and mine. I) The Holy Spirit Is Our Guide (John 16:13) One of the greatest conundrums of the Christian life is being faced with something you know is wrong and choosing whether or not to do it. II) The Holy Spirit Is Our Helper (John 15:26) The Holy Spirit is not only your Guide, He, is also your Helper. Jesus fully intended for the Holy Spirit to bear witness to the things of God Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to be your Helper. Seek Him in all things and in all ways. In every decision you make, thought you think, and word you say, trust the Holy Spirit to help show you the way. III) The Holy Spirit Is Our Power (Acts 1:8) Pray, asking God to give you opportunities to be a part of His story and display Holy Spirit power and love to a world who so desperately needs it. IV) The Holy Spirit Is Our Teacher (Hebrews 11:1) As a Christian, one of the best ways to learn the character of God is by reading Scripture. V) The Holy Spirit Is Our Friend (John 14:26) The Holy Spirit is also your Friend. Like a good friend, you can call on the Holy Spirit at any time for any reason. In Closing: Just like the unending love of the Father and the saving grace of the Son, the awakening presence of the Holy Spirit is a lifeline to a relationship with the triune God.
