<p>Episode 17 - Understanding Leaky Gut</p> <p>The body is amazing… especially the Digestive System!</p> <p>Food goes in one end (the mouth) and out the other (the anus).<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> Along the way, the nutrients the body needs to nourish the cells, muscles and organs are taken into the body through a process called absorption.</p> <p>Specifically absorption occurs in the part of the digestive tract known as the Small Intestine.</p> <p>The nutrients that are absorbed from the digestive system into the blood stream do so through “tight junctions”.<span class= "Apple-converted-space"> </span> These tight junctions only allow “good” nutrients to pass through.</p> <p>Unfortunately, a poor diet, NSAID’s, antibiotics, gluten, dairy, sugar, pesticides, and stress can all create “holes” in these tight junctions, allowing “bad” particles to pass into the bloodstream and circulate throughout the body.</p> <p>These “holes” are referred to as a Leaky Gut and the bad particles that pass into the bloodstream can result in a bunch of health problems… most notably, skin disorders, AutoImmune Disease and neurological disturbances.</p> <p>Understanding Leaky Gut is vital to maintain and achieve good health.</p> <p>Be ready to take some notes :)</p> <p>*** To get a copy of The Symptom Survey to to <a href= "http://www.GetHealthyAlabama.com">http://www.GetHealthyAlabama.com</a><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
