15. Defiling the Bona Dea

<p>Julius Caesar’s Praetorship ends with a scandalous bang. Cross-dressing combines with sacrilege to create a scandal the likes of which Rome has never seen. We introduce you to a new individual whose appetite for personal vendettas is unparalleled in history. While Caesar attempts to extricate himself from the controversy without destroying his political career, his creditors grow impatient.</p> <p> </p> <p>Enter the stage, Publius Claudius Pulcher.</p> <p> </p> <p>Correction: While the Claudii go back to some of the earliest days of the Roman Republic (specifically, 6 years after the founding of the Republic), they were in fact originally a Sabine family. The Sabines were at war with the Romans and the Claudii defected and joined Rome. Therefore I believe it would be inaccurate to call them a “Founding Family of Rome” as I say in this episode.
