Dunmore Caves could be reopened to the public in a matter of weeks. The popular tourist attraction was closed in 2019 as a result of rock fall. Since then major works have taken place to stabilize the site and ensure the health and safety of visitors. Before its closure the caves recorded up to 40,000 annual visitors.  Speaking to KCLR Live Director of National Monuments and Visitors services Mary Heffernan is hopeful the OPW Site will reopen in October and reach the same heights prior to 2019.
