1190: Northern Ballet Merlin Film Screening With AD

<div>Leeds based ballet company Northern Ballet who have been providing access to their productions for over 20 years for blind and partially sighted people through live audio description, In Sight dance workshops/touch tours will be releasing their first cinema film screening with AD with Merlin released in cinemas from 24 April 2022.<br> <br> </div> <div>Connect Radio’s Toby Davey was joined by Pippa Moore from Northern Ballet and Audio Describer Jo Myers to find out more about the film screening of Merlin with AD. <br> <br> </div> <div>Pippa began by giving a bit of background to Northern Ballet and their AD offer, why they wanted to add AD to the film screening of Merlin following on from their Covid 19 lockdown digital offer with AD. Jo talks about her background as a describer, working on her first film with AD back in 1997 with Howards End for the RNIB, her AD work in theatres, how the pandemic changed the way Describers worked moving to online performances and events with AD, her approach to describing Merlin, the wonderful music, etc.<br> <br> </div> <div>Northern Ballet’s Merlin with audio description will be released in cinemas from 24 April 2022, there will be a short synopsis prior to the film starting that visually impaired cinema goers can listen too as well as longer introductory notes available to listen to and download from the VocalEyes website prior to seeing Merlin.<br> <br> <br> (Image shows RNIB logo.
