083: Talent Review Ain’t Succession Planning

<p>What happens when a senior executive leaves the organization? Succession planning is a way to answer this question. Executives use this process to identify employees who could potentially take over vacant roles that are critical to the continued success of an organization.</p> <p>While succession planning applies to the top-level, critical roles (typically the top three career levels), talent review is another process that applies to almost all levels of an organization. In the literature, authors frequently describe talent review but label it as succession planning.
