007 - Are You Virtue Signalling YOURSELF?

There's been a lot of conversation over the last 10 months or so about Virtue Signalling: attempting to show other people that you are a good person. What's interesting about virtue signalling is that it usually involves presenting oneself in a good light on social media, for example, but then doing something else in private. If you really think about it though, isn't it true that we are also continually virtue signalling to OURSELVES? We are looking to prove, mostly to ourselves, that we are good people.
