Sunday 20 June No Joy, No Victory 7 A happy Fathers’ Day to all the fathers out there in the name of Jesus. I pray God’s strength and grace will keep you in the name of Jesus. May God the father of all fathers show Himself strong in our lives in the name of Jesus. May God help our nations overcome the scourge of fatherlessness in the name of Jesus. God bless you! Still drawing lessons from the story of David and his wife Michal. Did you observe that Michal was called the daughter of Saul rather than the wife of David? (2Sam. 6:20-23) After the ark of God was returned to the city of David with great celebration, David blessed the people and returned home to bless his family also. The first person to meet him as he came in was his wife Michal and she would have been the first to receive the blessing. Michal was full of bitterness and instead of receiving the blessing from David, said things that brought a curse on her. When there is no joy in our lives, we don’t see when good comes. Michal didn’t see David as God’s representative whose blessing can change her life. Instead, she saw a shameless commoner who didn’t understand the dignity of royalty. If she was humble enough to receive the blessing of God from David probably it would have brought a complete restoration to their relationship and other areas of her life but that wasn’t the case.     Joel 1: 12, It says, “...there is no productivity and everything is dry because joy is dried up in people’s hearts.” When there is no joy in your heart, there will be no victory and Michal was a victim of that. Not only was she the only woman recorded as childless in the bible, her name was never mentioned again as David’s wife. The price of a joyless life is more painful than we can imagine, we must avoid it.
