<p>Tonight’s guest is sports author Robert Jacobus. Robert is a Texas native and was a school teacher who taught history while coaching volleyball, basketball, tennis in public schools throughout the Lone Star State. During the last ten years of his teaching career he was teaching dual credit US history courses for the Wharton County Junior College at Foster High School in Richmond, Texas. Today Robert is an adjunct professor at Stephen E. Austin State University.</p> <p>In 2015 Robert published his first book “Houston Cougars in the 1960s” a splendid history of the growth of the University of Houston Cougars basketball program which came to fore during the 1960s.</p> <p>In 2019 he released his second book “Black man in the huddle” another splendid history of the racial integration of Texas high school and college sports.</p> <p>Tonight we will be discussing his third book which will be published this coming October, “To Live and Play in Dixie: Pro Football’s entry into the Jim Crow South” a history of the establishment of pro football franchises in the Deep South and how African-American pro football players coped with Jim Crow laws during the 1950s and 1960s.</p>
