God's Work is Certain

Romans 8:32 — Can God’s love for His children ever change or lessen? Paul is continuing to prove the assurance of salvation for those who are in Christ Jesus. In this sermon on Romans 8:32 titled “God’s Work is Certain,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones argues that assurance is God’s love for His people, and the ultimate act of love was the sacrifice of His only Son on the cross for them. Paul says that it is impossible for God’s love to change because the ultimate sacrifice shows just how far God is willing to go for those who are in Christ. Dr. Lloyd-Jones shows how the event of the crucifixion and the context surrounding the event are facts and, per usual, Paul proves his arguments using facts and doctrine. If God did something so great out of love, how could He ever do anything less than that? What happened on the cross is something that was predetermined before the beginning of time. God did it all; humanity had no part. God chose to give up His only Son for sinners and this act of love should inspire them to have an even greater confidence in the salvation that was gifted.
