Not peace but a sword

Jesus uttered these controversial words in Matthew 10:34. What did he mean he came not to bring peace? Isaiah refers to Jesus as the Wonderful Counselor and the Prince of Peace. This appears as another contradiction in the Bible, doesn't it? As always the Bible never contradicts itself.
