<p><em>Dragnet&nbsp;</em>is a 1954 film starring Jack Webb, along with Ben Alexander, Richard Boone, Virginia Gregg, Stacy Harris, Vic Perrin, and Ann Robinson. Richard Breen —&nbsp;the wordsmith behind <em>The FBI Story</em> —&nbsp;wrote this thing, and wow, does it show! Web plays Sergeant Joe Friday, everyone's favorite stiff, stern Los Angeles Police Department detective.</p><p>Friday and his partner Frank Smith get assigned the homicide of a low-level gangster. They proceed to repeatedly harass their suspects, based on rather flimsy evidence for over an hour.
