Monday 17 May    Fighting Prayer.   Last week, we spoke about Friendship Prayer and the summary of friendship prayer is that it is the prayer that helps us build intimacy and companionship with God. Fighting Prayer on the other hand is the prayer by which we deal with contentions from the forces of darkness by exercising our authority in Christ. Every human being created by God is hated by the devil, whether you love God or not. God loves people so the devil believes by oppressing, tormenting and destroying human lives he is getting at God.   Matthew 6: 13 (NLT), “And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.”   Here we can see Jesus helping us understand the reality of spiritual warfare, the forces of evil that strive to destroy us. God has made a way for us in Christ to be rescued and resist the powers of the evil one and prayer is a major part of that.   While praying, Jesus says we should pray like this, “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom comes; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”   God desires that His Kingdom come on the earth, this happens when His will is done. and His will be done on earth is through believers. The devil will not sit down and watch us establish the Kingdom of God on the earth, he will put up every opposition he can put up. Paul understood this by experience, he said in 1 Corinthian 16: 9 (NKJV), 9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.   God opened a wonderful door to advance His Kingdom, as Paul worked to take advantage of this opportunity he met with satanic resistance. But by exerting his Kingdom authority in Christ, he was able to overcome the plans of the enemy and press forward in the things of God.   This week, we will be looking at how to use the power of prayer - Fighting Praye
