They are a fleeting, whimsical idea that sounds good and noble when they’re spoken out loud but really bear no weight. These resolutions often end up being something that sounds good, or is something that feels expected by, or will win the approval of other people. This is one of the biggest traps people fall into with setting their New Year’s Resolutions.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400">The word resolution in this sense means a firm decision to do or not do something which is admirable in and of itself.
