Welcome to a sound architecture for the South African citizen - or just the resident of the urban typology searching a sanctum for the self. Here we splice the bureaucratic institutions of the everyday with a twist of reality and art - the Department for Urban Sanity - seeks to provide you the citizen a sanctuary of sound devices by which to map your sanctity within. Being politically-mentally satirically named means of course we will be unpacking socio-spatial politics through dialogue topics but also through creative skills and entrepreneurship lessons, imparting knowledge and information for creative practitioners and people who navigate the spaces of the city and its complex context - both locally and internationally through business, research and other means of practice. Each episode is curated around a structured syllabus format of workshops and dialogues/recordings with other creatives aligned with a mix mash playlist of music to inspire with each data set of dialogue. Our hope is through sound spaces like these we can virtualise spaces to realise dreamed future places.
