INEC- How does a winner emerge
Ahmed hatem
Description
According to Section 66 of the Electoral Act, 2022, and Sections 134 and 179 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to be declared winners in the election, presidential and governorship candidates must receive the largest number of votes cast and not less than one-quarter of votes in at least two-thirds of each of the states or the local government areas in the state, respectively. If no candidate receives these proportions, a second round will be held between the top two candidates. For any national or state assembly election, a candidate must receive the largest number of votes cast in the ward, constituency, or senatorial district he or she is contesting (a simple majority) to be declared the winner.
